Lunch session for students and young pharmacists

Introduction

Shaping your next step in pharmacy to advance primary health care

Collaboration between International Pharmaceutical Students Association (IPSF) EMRO, FIP Young Pharmacists Group (YPG), Jordanian Pharmacy Student’s Association (JPSA) and Young Pharmacists from Jordan.
Pharmacists, the most accessible healthcare professionals, have an important role in providing primary health care by providing access to medicines, disease prevention and managing chronic health conditions and palliative care. In 2018, the WHO launched a report on the importance of engaging young people in achieving sustainable development goals and improving health care outcomes. We recognise the important role of students and early career pharmacists in advancing primary health care in their countries and in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. As the future of the profession, pharmacy students and early career pharmacists will get together in this session to identify educational and professional development needs in order to solve complex health issues in the primary health care and improve health outcomes in their countries and in the region.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. To describe the important role of pharmacists in advancing primary health care;
  2. To identify needs of the students and early career pharmacists in delivering services in primary health care setting;
  3. To prioritise the needs and to develop call for action for the improvement of pharmacist role in primary health care.
